Brief Narrative
Greenwatch Initiative is a non-government organization formed in 2001 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Abuja in 2005 under the Companies and Allied Matters Act.1 1990. The organization is focused on improving the quality of life of the poor and vulnerable people through environmental sustainability, poverty alleviation and health information/service programs.
Greenwatch is made up of a Board of Trustees and Management Team. The Board of Trustees has 7 members comprising 4 males and 3 females. The Board also has 2 sub committees on project monitoring and evaluation as well as finance and audit that work with the management team to ensure programs and budget targets are maintained.

To promote environmental security, healthy living and good governance through capacity building, advocacy, research, community mobilization and services for the benefit of the poor and vulnerable people.

Prof. S. Shomkegh
Senior Program Manager
Designation: Senior Program Manager/Team Leader ACReSAL Project
Qualification: He holds a Ph.D in Environmental management with over 25 years post NYSC experience in development work. His training/skills cuts across key areas of climate change adaptation/mitigation, ethno-botanical studies, EIA, organizational development including strategic/operational planning, Resource mobilization, project design and management, Social Analysis Systems (SAS2), Facilitation, Reporting and Documentation, PEP model, PADEF, MPPI/ Combination Prevention Intervention, Data quality management, M&E as well as networking and behavioral change. Recently, he has been trained on the World Bank Environment and Social Framework (ESF) fundamentals and is serving as a faculty/M&E Officer of the Center for Innovation in Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards (CIPESS), Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, assisted by the World Bank. He has successfully coordinated environment and health programs of the organization since 2006 and acts in place of the Executive Director in absence of the substantive. He is a 2010 alumnus and participant of the international training fellowship in Forest Governance of the Wageningen University. He recently participated in international study tour of climate change adaptation practices for dry lands in Brazil in October 2012.

Prof. Emmanuel Tembe
Executive Director
Designation: Executive Director of Greenwatch Initiative
Position on ACReSAL Project: Climate Change Specialist Qualification: He holds a Doctor of Science (Ph.D) degree in Forest Products Utilization with over 25 years post NYSC experience in development work in Nigeria. He has skills/experience in Climate Change Adaptation/ Mitigation, Disaster Risk Reduction, Waste management, EAI, Environmental management systems and Agro-forestry systems/practices. He is also prolific in Organizational management, Strategic/Operational Planning, Resource mobilization, Data quality management, Project design and management, Social Analysis Systems (SAS2), Facilitation, Reporting and documentation, PEP model, HTS, MPPI/ Combination Prevention Intervention, PADEF, Gender mainstreaming, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, ICT office packages as well as networking and behavioral change. He has participated in several national and international development events including the 18th Conference of Parting (COP18) meeting of the UNFCC in Doha, Qatar between November 26 and December 6th 2012. He has held fort as Executive Director in-charge of day to day running of the organization since 2005.

Designation: Forest Specialist
Qualification: He holds a Ph.D in Wood Products Utilization from JOSTUM in 2019. He is a World Bank Trainer/Facilitator on Environmental and Social Standards at CIPESS. He is vast in forest conservation research and community service. He served on the Benue ACReSAL project as Forest Specialist.

Dr. Victor Akwu Otene
Agriculture Specialist
Designation: Agriculture Specialist/Data Management Officer
Qualification: He holds a Ph.D., Agricultural Extension and Communication from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, 2022. He has excellent skills in developing and appraising feasibility/research proposals on investment and research; he also skillful in the use of CSPro, KoboCollect, Google Forms, STATA and SPSS and advanced data manipulation skills, participatory methodologies and skills in needs assessment, ranking/ prioritizations and project implementation.

Qualification: She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering from University of Agriculture Makurdi in 2008. She has skills in Environmental management, participatory project monitoring and evaluation, organizational management, resource mobilization, project design and management, Social Analysis Systems (SAS2), MPPI/ Combination Prevention Intervention, data Quality management, Facilitation and PADEF. She is a 2009 alumnus of the international training fellowship in Multi-stakeholder Processes (MSP) of the Wagenigen University in The Netherlands.

Qualification: He holds a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Madona University Okija in 2013. His job responsibilities include; Technical design with specifications of solar powered boreholes, irrigation facilities and efficient cookstoves; Site surveys; Reticulation & maintenance of boreholes and irrigation facilities; Supervision of construction works.

Engr Kingsley Yina
Irrigation Engr.
Designation: Hydrologist/Irrigation Engineer
Qualification: B.Eng. (Agric/Environmental Engineering) UAM 2010. He specializes in design and construction & maintenance of irrigation facilities, surface and ground water management and run-off control. He is skilled in AutoCad and IrriCAD software applications. He has worked on the ACReSAL Needs Assessment project as Hydrologist.

Favour Chukwuji
Architect
Designation: Architect
Qualification: He is a graduate of Architecture from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, with over three years of experience in architectural design, drawing and construction. He has over the years, consistently worked to improve my architectural skills and knowledge. He worked as; Architect AstroTect Designs (Lagos) March 2023 - Till Date, Project Architect Kolie Mobs Ventures Limited(KMVL) Abuja between Febuary 2022 – March 2023 and Junior Architect McDavidson Technology, Enugu Dec 2019 – Oct 2021. He is experienced in creating building designs and highly detailed drawings using specialist computer- aided design applications, Liaising with construction professionals about the feasibility of potential projects, and providing design solutions and details, using AutoCAD and 2D/3D drawings.
Mr. William Hundu
GIS Specialist
Designation: GIS/Remote Sensing Specialist
Qualification: He is a holder of Master of Science Degree in Geographic Information System and Remote sensing from Adamawa State University, Mubi since 2017, a B.Tech.(Ed) Geography in 2012 and a Diploma in Information Technology in 2006 respectively from Federal University of Technology Yola, Adamawa State. He has five (5) years’ experience in the field of GIS and remote sensing as a lecturer, researcher and practitioner from where I have acquired vital skills and knowledge for execution of GIS related projects such as Geospatial data collection and mapping, geodatabase management, geoprocessing, Digital soil mapping for precision agriculture, spatial modelling, hydrological analysis, terrain analysis, spatial analysis, digital image processing, satellite image interpretation, change detection, programming for geoinformatics and web GIS. He is a member of Geoinformation Society of Nigeria (GEOSON) and presently coordinator of the Benue State Chapter.

He has experience in the use of Quickbooks in keeping financial records and budgeting, Monitoring and ensuring compliance to policies and regulations; Maintenance and periodic review of Assets register. He has received World Bank training and experience in Procurement Standards and Contract management.

She is experienced in planning and execution of activities to develop and protect forest environments such as forest fire tracing, Overseeing ecological conservation and recreational use of forests, Ensure economic viability of designated forests in Benue State, Nigeria and Supervising daily routine of forest workers involved in practical work.
